Hi Tom

I've tried some gaskets. SOme of them have been on for three years now, no sign of leaks. I work in a pulp mill, we have gasket material galore. I figured if it can be used in caustic high temp environments, a little bit of water won't hurt it. Generally you're probably going to get no for an answer. In all the years I've been reading about boats, not too much has been said about gaskets.

I say go for it!
