Lifting bar

I've been lifting my SJ by the cabin top since 1981. The lifting bar has been a 5x5 crossmember with a 2x2x1/4 in steel angle bolted under (way too heavy), a 2 1/2 in. steel square tube, and currently I use a 1 1/2 in. steel sq. tube with 6 in. sq. pads at the ends. All have been about 5 ft. long and all have been padded. This last one flexes a bit but as long as your loading the cabin top out near the sides and not just around the hatch it should be ok. I've been told Clark used to hang all the boats as they moved them around the factory.
