Re: Shroud Tension

Every thing I have ever seen says louse is best. If you have a gage, never go over 250 lbs. I do my insides about 25 lbs. less then the outers. We began a few years ago working on tension and mast rake here in the mid-west and we all seem to backing off a good bit. I had not been paying enough attention to mine until I could not keep up. I got a gage and found I was over 300 lbs. I backed off, added a little more rake, and now I am keeping up. Any time you can, you need to look at mast rake. Avoid at all cost leeward helm. Some have even bought new forstays to rake the mast. Too much of any helm is slow, leeward is deadly.
