I have an old Ullman Sails "San Juan 21 Tuning Guide" that gives the following advice. "With a Loos gauge, check the tension on the upper and lower shrouds. The rig should be set at: Under 10 knots 150 lbs Upper and Lower Shrouds Over 10 knots 300 lbs Upper and Lower Shrouds"

The last part of their advice says: "err to the loose side of the settings."
