subject:Tick board shape gizmo
Making panels to fit odd shaped places is done with a 'tick-stick' or 'tick-board' as I've heard them called. You can prop a loosly fitting board or panel into the place that needs filling, then take another stick and push it into the curves, hold, and trace the stick onto the temporary panel. Another way to do this is to staple cards from a deck of cards onto the close-but-rough fitting test panel, then trace the outline after removing the test panel. Still another way is to take a square block, large enough to bridge the gap, and trace it against a temporary panel. Hope this helps. I have some books on joinery from which I could photocopy an appropriate page if that would help. The process is sometimes also called "spiling."vandy Kermit 1033
