subject:Lifting a San Juan 21 off a trailer
When I want to take a San Juan 21 off a trailer, I pick a reasonably flat surface and put the tongue on the ground. Block up the stern at the very bottom of the transom. I like to use a barrel and a piece of styrofoam between the barrel and boat. Next untie the boat from the trailer if you have not done this before. If you have a roller on your trailer about four feet back from the winch stand, start jacking the tongue to raise the boat. If you don't have a roller at the proper place ,put a 4X4 with a carpet padded V blockon top to take the boat weight where the roller would be. Jacck the tongue up untill the boat is above the fenders. Block the boat under the rear of the keel well with at least a 4X6 or 2 4X4s and pull the trailer out from under the boat. Block the boat under the rear support and wedge the hull befor working under the boat. I have used this method several times with great success.
