The original gaskets were made of dacorn sail cloth and were held inplace by AL strips anchored to the hull with screws. Many racing sailors have replaced this configuration with a metal gasket designed by George Mann and updated by others in the class.You may want to take a look at the design and a Chief Measures article that can be found on the Midwest San Juan Sailing web site.
