Mast rake

I just got a 1980 hull. Very, very original (and plain jane). Ordered a suit of sails from "Newsails" The boat still has the original sails...bedsheet soft. Interestingly I also got an original owners manual!!. The mast setup instructions stat the mast should be raked 6-8" aft of the mast (when floating)> Then tighten the upper shrouds to moderate tension sighting the mast for straight. Then tighten the lowers to similar, sighting for straight. Then let off "alittle" tension on the uppers. That's the factory description, if I read it right.
