It would probably be a good idea to find if there are any debts for the boat. I read an article where a guy bought a boat and then shortly there after was taken to court by people who had mechanic and storage bills against the boat. The court awarded the claimants 150,000 dollars with interest. The new owner was responsible for the full amount.
