The only problem I have seen with the pivot pins,is that the holes are drilled 3/4", and the bolts are 5/8". Over time the hole in the keel wears egg shapped, and the keel will not retract all the way into the boat. I have put bushings in the keels, which helps, but I have never been able to get them back to original.Unless you are bothered by a saging keel you can leave it alone and it will probably last only ten or fifteen years.
