Hi Jake, Masthead lights are the best for anchoring but any 360 degree light will suffice in most anchorages. Granted a light that sits on top of your cabin trunk may be abscured by the mast but practicly speaking it will be seen by 99.9% of boaters and the ones that would miss it would probably miss your masthead light as well. Thats my two cents worth anyway.
