Regarding trailersI battled with the old fleet captain trailers for a number of years ( had three of them)
Love the new "long" trailer I bought a few years ago - never worry about the trailer any more.
Towing - you can look up my previous longer post on this, but ... I have towed San Juans with:
4 cly (2.0 lit) Mazda 2 wd pickup
4 cyl (2.3 lit)Isuzu 4 wd Trooper
6 cly (5.0 lit) 2 wd 1/2 ton Ford Pickup
6 Cyl ( 3.0 lit) Chrysler minivan (liked the longer wheelbase version)
6 cly ( 4.0 lit) Ford 4 wd Explorer
8 cly (4.6 lit) Ford 2 wd 1/2 ton Pickup
8 Cly (5.4 lit) Ford 2wd ExpeditionThe 4 cyl vehicles were marginal - I was young and poor, so we did what we had to. All the 6 cyl vehicles worked fine (the Explorer was a little worrysome when stopping the 3300 lb SJ 23 in a hurry)
The v8 are overkill but I like them -
Ya'll come to the Labor Day Regatta at LNYC! SJ Fleet is looking good at this point
