Rudder epoxy repair

Greetings:

My blade snapped just below the steel plate. A bodyshop pro suggested three threaded rods as dowels and strong epoxy to reattach the pivot end to the blade.

Have any of you had (or heard of other) experiences repairing a fiberglass blade? I am an occasional sailor and not a racer, so weight is not an issue.

Maybe a wooden blade might even do the trick...

Your suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for any input.

Wil
