kickup rudder repair

One of the boats here on Carlyle Lake broke it's rudder at the side plates a couple of years ago. The owner went with a professional fix that really looks great. (I didn't ask what it cost) Anyway, the real issue and one that has been discussed here and elsewhere many times is relieving the inside edges of the aluminium plates to prevent the very type of stress breaking that has been experienced.

Take a file and put a full radius on the inside bottom edge of both plates. Your rudder will thank you.

Do it now, don't wait!
