subject:Re: Mast Base Plate
The bases for the mast are cast aluminum normally and they have a profile that fits the inside of the mast extrusion itself. Typically, the base extends up into the mast about 3/4" and is usually held in place by rivets, or occasionally by screws. If screws are used, they usually do not have a backing nut...they typically thread into the base casting itself which would have been drilled and tapped to accept the screw.
If you fully remove the base, replacement is straightforward and the process will be evident once you have it off the mast. I would recommend the use of rivets to replace if you have access to a rivet gun.
Good luck
Mike
