Asymetric and stability

I rigged up a 2' bowsprit, tied it to the deck using the deck hardware that is stock, then ran a line down to the towing eye on near the waterline to keep the pole down. I was singlehanding a masthead asymetric without any problems. The wind was only about 6-8, but with some better rigging, it would be easier to hoist/lower and sail in more wind. I did use a tiller tamer made of two shock chords and a small piece of rope lashed around the tiller. The rope wraps around the tiller enough to tension for the wind conditions. It allows you to leave the cockpit for short sprints to the bow.

I don't see how I could have done this with a traditional spinnaker. I might have gotten lucky once out of every 5 tries. It is nice not to bother with the pole at all while sailing. I plan on a more permanent solution to it and continue using it.

AS far as performance, I don't know if the PHRF reduction you would carry would be offset by better performance. That is for another post.........
