Trailer Tires and Link to Trailer Boats Tune-Up Guide for yo

Hi Bob, after much discussion with my tire pro, it is his opionion that you should always use trailer rated tire. The 6 ply sidewall and the ability to handle 65psi of pressure will help carry the load, reduces overheating and will allow you to track better without sway. It is just a better decision and judging by all of the boats/trailers you see stranded on the side of the highway, you don't want to be one of those poor souls. A little extra money up front will really make you trip a safe and enjoyable event.

My father-in-law just went through the same question that you are asking and he found a very good price on a radial trailer tire at Walmart/Sam's for about $70 per tire. He just went to Canada and back with no problem and he was glad he had the trailer rated tire. His buddy went the light truck tire route and he ended up with tire problems during the journey. Spoils a good time with a 1/2 day spent trying to find a replacement.

Here is a link from "Trailer Boats" April 2006 issue that will help anyone get their trailer in tip top shape. It was probably the best articles I have ever read on the subject. (Hint: When you go to the link you have to right click and open the document subject)
