keel fairing



It was my understanding that at the time our esteemed Chief Measurer McClure ruled on the aluminum gasket and subsequently the fairing that the strips or equivalent must remain in place, as tho the dacron gasket was installed. After seeing the fairing, his opinion was that if the piece was installed it could NOT be faired into the bottom and the thickness would substitute for the previous gasket strips. Since the boats have been away from the factory for such a long time, there may well be different sorts of strips out there doing the work - the important thing is that everybody has something down there making the required turbulence...This is obviously not hydrodynamically correct, but it IS the rule...
