San Juan 21 in East Africa

Last week I received an email from a new San Juan 21 owner in East Africa - Dar es Salaam, which is in Tanzania. (Which I think is the most popular destination for safaris.) I'm including his email (I received his approval), which should be of interest to all of our sailing enthusiasts. (I should also mention that we get emails and visits from a few interested sailors in Japan, France, Puerto Rico and a couple of other foreign harbors.) Although I am unfamiliar with this part of Africa, I do have a lady friend in Cape Town, South Africa and an acquaintance whose family came from Nigeria (his father is a professor at the university I attended in Indiana). From a little research I did on the Internet, I'm including a couple of Tanzanian websites at the end of this email. I'm also including some photos that Mark included with his emails. - Jim

"Hello Jim,

"I have been reading your website for many months and this has contributed in helping me to make a decision on buying a San Juan 21 over the past few months.

"We are based in Dar es Salaam, East Africa which is a great location for sailing and has a very active ex-pat sailing community. The famous, historic island of Zanzibar is only a few miles North East of us and features much on our yearly yachting calender. Over the next few weeks after I have sailed the San Juan (presently being refitted) I will post a few messages onto your site.

"Many thanks for all the assistance and enthusiasim that is shown by your self, great to know that your site is read all around the world.

"Best regards,
Mark Hart
