PHRF Ratings

Hey all,

I remember some discussions on PHRF rating changes recently and wanted to ask for advice. Currently, we are using Lake Lanier PHRF (Dixie Inland Yacht Racing Association, DIYRA) ratings as guides here on Lake Martin (although there is talk of moving over to Portsmouth). Thus, my rating is 252 ODR, which I assume means one design rules apply. Does this mean that I can or can't use my No. 1 (150%)? If I use it, is there a correction in PHRF like the one in Portsmouth and what is it?

From my understanding, the PHRF rating used by the Gulf Yachting Association, GYA, is 243, and is subsequent to no limitations (keel raised downwind, 155 headsails, etc). Is this the rating other PHRF sailors use? I really just want to be fair to the rest of my club, and maybe to give myself more of a challenge. Thx.

Curious Carlos
