Lightening in the Air

Lightening

Having converted from cat sailor to SJ21 sailor, I found myself out overnight in a lightening storm. Common knowledge tells me the highest point in my area is 26ft of aluminum mast right above me. Lee Trevino said that not even God could hit a 2 iron, but a aluminum mast - maybe so.

What does one do to give a possible lightening strike a safe place to discharge rather than in one’s lap or hull?

Has anyone had a strike while onboard? What was the outcome?

Thanks in advance
