Good points all.I'm going to be putting the boat in a boat slip. I would not leave the keel down - or up - just on the cable. My question was about leaving it up or down (or halfway) resting on the stop bolt. The water is deep enough for the keel to be all the way down.
And I was also wondering about the last point made: if the keel moves with water motion does the pivot bolt hole get worn? If so it seems a case for leaving the keel up, no? I have noticed that sometimes with the boat at the dock the keel does a bit of banging when subjected to wakes. (Yes, yes, the solution is to shoot the motors on those other boats, but that's still illegal on our lake.)
