Not really much to tell. It goes up and down with a winch. For safe operation always have the ratchet engaged on the winch. That means both up and down. If the winch gets away from you or a member of the family, the handle can do damage to hands, wrists and teeth if it spins uncontrolled.Otherwise just crank the keel down until the pin will fit through the hole. There are 2 holes and you can't see either one. One is about 1/2 way and the other at the bottom. If you don't have a pin make one from a big spike. I mean really big and grind it round so it fits easily. I use a square railroad spike rounded off.
Under no circumstances should you sail the boat with the keel unlocked or in the up position.
