subject:keel removal
I'm afraid I've committed the grave and embarrassing error of driving with my keel pinned up. This (I think) is the reason for the keel no longer holding parallel to the hull. I think the pin hole has widened and there is now exposed and unsealed material around the pin hole that needs to be sealed and reinforced. My winter project looms. I'm aware of the various posts on removing the keel, but in preparation for the repair itself, I'd like some feedback.
1. I'd like to use the trailer axle-removal method: how wide is the keel?
2. what is the material around the pin? What's recommended for filler and reinforcement?
3. What should I be particularly concerned with?I know I'll have different questions later, but answers to these will at least help me get the concept rolling.
