subject:Failed project, gear for sale.
I recently acquired a San Juan 21 Mark I, with the intention of restoring it. The previous owner had stripped all the rigging, hardware, and fittings off the boat with the intention of repainting, unfortunately he never got around to it, and over the next several years the hull sat out in the weather without fittings, windows, or hatches. I bought it 7 months ago wanting to finish what he started, but at this point I don't have the time required to do the job, and the least expensive quote I received to have the job done was over $8000.I have decided to sell off the gear, and junk the hull. Essentially I have all the rigging, deck hardware and fittings necessary to fit out a Mark I, following are prices for the major items, anything else you need, let me know and make an offer.
All of the gear was stored inside, accept for the mast which while outside was stored under cover, everything except the hull itself is in at least fair condition, and most is in good condition.
... Mast with stays, shrouds, spreaders, and halyards - $600
... Boom - $100Sails (the sails are in very good condition, appear to have been used very little, all in original bags except the main which has been stored rolled around the boom).
... Rudder with pintals and tiller - $200
- Main sail (fair condition two battens missing) - $100
- Jib - $150
- Genoa (don't know if is 130% or 150%) - $200
- Spinnaker - $200
... Bow pulpit - $100Items still in the hull that may be of interest (make an offer, I will accept less if you want to remove them yourself, if you want the keel I will be happy to assist by lifting the boat):
Keel (I am honestly not sure of the condition, as I have not lowered it since acquiring the boat, I would think that it is in as decent condition as the rest of the gear, and it is has not been out of the centerboard trunk since the boat was last in the water.)
Mast support post
Centerboard winch (the winch is in good shape, I would replace the cable).I am planning to use the trailer (I already replaced the bearings, it needs new tires, cleaning and painting) for another boat, but if anyone is brave enough to want to take the whole boat, I will let you have the trailer with all the gear for a $1000. For anyone who is curious, according to the title, this is hull number 487.
The boat and gear are all in Portland, Or.
I don't have pictures at the moment, but the next sunny day, I will lay everything out, and take pictures, and make them available.
