Good news, good news, and.... good news

Okay.

Doing Spring clean-up and getting ready to dunk (when it stops snowing, please! - we've been getting bits of hail and snow in the mornings). First order of business is to attach genoa tracks, winches, and a few other bits of odds and ends. I also bought a new motor mount because the original fg was starting to crack along the attachment flanges. Also purchased new backstay and adjuster from Gene - that should arrive any day (right, Gene?)

In talking to Gene he suggested to really inspect the transom because the early boats, of which I have one, sometimes developed leaks, and the transom has to be torn out and replaced. After replacing half the deck last year with new balsa core I did NOT want to do that again. So with trepidation I drilled out and cleaned up the old motor mount holes and found..... dryness!!!

Then, when inside the boat preparing for all the hardware to be mounted, I noted a few WATER STAINS that had come from the starboard handrail attachment points. Oh no, I thought, here I go again with the other half of the deck! So I explored and found that all the interior wood was light colored and dry, and I did the nail thing to clean out the wood and oozed in some epoxy for a mounting base. Dryness again!!!

AND... a few days ago I got a call from a friend of mine who is moving his boat to another marina at another lake (where they do more racing) and asked if I would be interested in leasing his slip through September for $120/month. Well, yeah, sure, but first let me see if there are any more slips where you are going (different vibe marina, restaurant, bar, shopping right there, more secluded lake.) I found that they have ONE slip left, seasonal, April-October for $800, and it would be mine to keep in the future. So I have two to choose from, and can still trailer my boat elsewhere if I choose.

Life feels good on the boating front right now.

Carlos
