Hi Stumpy. We have about 15 SJs at our club and they all seem to have different hull stiffness. It seems almost to be totally random too. Some old boats are stiff and some newer boats are soft. I have no idea what the deal. It seems like the Clark manufacturing process was somewhat... inconsistent. Everything from hardware to mast placement seems to be slightly different between almost all of the boats. My boat is older (#714) and the hull is medium stiffness but my deck and cockpit is in quite good shape compared to many of the boats out there, yet my shrouds are in line with my mast while most boats have them slightly behind the mast. I can not explain it.
