Received the following emails from Lee Coss. (He must have seen my message on the website because he said he didn't receive my email - it's been changed apparently.)"Jim
I am still here. Here in Guanhan ( 45 miles east from center of earthquake) it is not too bad here. It is real bad in the towns close to the center. The first quake shook things very hard. Some buildings lost windows, a few the walls fell off the sides and a lot that have Major cracks in the walls. Most people are staying out side living in home made tents. Most people live in apartment buildings that are 8 to 20 floors high. Things are still shaking. There has been 41 small quakes so far. Did not get your email.
Lee"... and from another email sent to a few:
"Everyone
Things are bad in Guanghan today. With all the aftershocks parts of buildings are starting to fall and people are getting seriously hurt. At last count there were 44 aftershocks. It is safer to walk in the street away from tall buildings. The ambulance's are so busy they use flat bed trucks with beds in the back to move the injured. You hear sirens all the time now. Most of the buildings are enter at your own risk and are closed from the 3rd floor and on up. Most businesses are closed and food has more then doubled in cost. Water sells out quickly when a shipment comes in. Worked today helping get clothes together with my friends in China to send to the hardest hit people in the mountains towns that are flattened and have nothing.
Lee"and, here's more pictures of the quake aftermath:
