Re: Mainsheet traveller systems



Jim - Here are a couple of pics of a system we use here in the East. Especially in light air it gives the most adjustability from either side of the boat. In pic 1(1), the traveler line is in the light air cleat so you can pull the traveler to weather from the low side. Pic 1 shows the line in the heavy air cleat so you can control the car from the weather rail. The 1(3) pic is a close up of the 2:1/4:1 mainsheet block and cleats. Pull both parts and its 2:1 for speed; pull one part and its 4:1 for power. The red line is the backstay adjuster. Thanks for the site - Mark

Below are Mark's pictures of the traveller systems he cites above. Aren't these used mainly by racers? However, aren't there some "mainsheet" sytems that don't employ the traveller 'bar' across the cockpit? -Jim
