1973 SJ 21-Yellow-see pic from 07/26/2008

The boat is a 1973 San Juan 21. The package includes the trailer, sails, and all necessary hardware (lines, tiller, boom) for sailing-the engine is not included. I have all necessary paperwork as well. This is a true project boat but with the some hard work she could be very enjoyable once again. The boat shows appropriate cosmetic ware such as cracking in the gelcoat. In addition to the cracked gelcoat there are three patches on the port side of the boat that are about a foot-a foot and a half diameter that were completed sometime in the mid 80's after the boat was in a tornado. The hatches shown were cut out of plywood and will need to be replaced as well. Now for the structural problems:
The Transom core is rotten and will need replaced. It would be fine for sailing now but I would not trust an engine mounted on it. The cabin roof has been de-cored where it was rotten as well. This was a project that was began but not finished. I have had the roof reinforced with a few very strong fiberglass beams that give very good support-enough to walk on without fear. However, to properly finish the job the roof would need re-cored. The cabin portion around the main door and front hatch are sound. The keel on the boat needs to have the pivot hole re finished. This is the reason that I am no longer using the boat-I have sailed it numerous times with the previous flaws. However, because the keel pivot hole has become oval, it causes the keel to drop down a bit which won't allow it to be raised all of the way back into the trunk that it folds up into. Because of this I am unable to get it on the trailer (the keel hits the roller).

As far as the trailer goes-I painted it two years ago and covered the wood with new indoor/outdoor carpet. The tongue of the trailer has been bent a bit for as long as I can remember but it does not cause any adverse effects. It is just angled down a bit. I packed the bearings three years ago before pulling the boat down from Ohio and have only maintained them with a grease gun by filling up the buddy bearings??

I hope this information helps. If you would like to take a look at the boat or have any further questions for me please do not hesitate to contact me via email or at 864-353-8258. Thank you for your interest. With a little hard work this could be quite an enjoyable accomplishment-I just don't have the tools/time/or skill.
