Steping The Mast

I have had my MKII since 1985 and have never had a problem steping the mast. Why use all the extra gear with a mast as light as a SJ-21. I stand on top of the cabin and use my legs to lift the mast with the spinnaker halyard attached to the tack on the bow. Then I take up the slack and cleat the spinnaker halyard off moving to the bow to attach the forestay. With two people it is very easy. The key is having the backstay loose enough to be able to insert the forestay pin and having a mast support mounted on the transom at a height that gets the mast well off the deck (decreasing the angle).
