Rick, Doug, I see lots of guys raising masts on lots of different boats and the gin pole seems the only scheme that can be totally single handed. For me it's good because it's easy on my 79 year old back. Your method is good, Doug, because it doesn't require extra gear but at my age you must use as much leverage as you can get! Al Paul
