Re: raising mast

Hi Jim,

Attached are 3 pictures. This first is of the very minimal additional hardware required, most of which i already had. For someone just starting out, the snatch-block would be a bit expensive, i had one saved from previous sailboat. The bow rail fitting is just a part of one of the anchor hangers that came with the boat.

The second is of my mast trailering crutch which fits in the rudder gudgeons. I was off on my length gestimate, it is actually 5'8"(68 inches) in total. I put the roller on top, it is just a trailer roller that i already had.

The third picture is of the pieces in place ready for use on the bow pulpit. I'm sorry about the poor quality of this picture, i took it in my garage last night, so all my garage crap kind of gets in the way of the picture, but if you look closely you can get the idea. Next time i have the boat outside i will get a better picture of the whole system in operation.

On my boat(mark2) and trailer(caulkins) everything lines up perfectly and this is all there is to it, no other pieces necessary, no gin pole, easy 1 man operation with the trailer winch.
