subject:pump this
So....with our first 21 (#379- Obi Juan) it leaked in almost every possible place....when we first went to the Outer Banks with three guys and a weekend's worth of supplies (read: beer)...and we were not light...so we lowered the water line quite a bit - we found that it took on water through the keep trunk holes (and later discovered the lower gudgeons as well)Sleeping aboard - we would end up with several inches of water in the cabin overnight (this is way beyond spongable!) This really wrecks the dry shoes/socks supply....For the second crossing to Ocracoke I bought a small rule bilge pump with 10 feet of flexible plastic tube and wired it to a cigarette lighter plug...I would normally get up in the middle of the night anyway (for a head call) so I would simply plug the pump and pump the cabin water into the cockpit and let it drain that way - by the third night we had consumed enough supplies to raise the water line and it was less of an issue....that said the currect boat (Ragtop - 1694) is quite dry - a small rain leak somethere, but very minor...
and I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything
