subject:Sagging mast, Tarping the boat for storage
Wil, I have been using a aluminum extension ladder for a strong back for my tarp frame. I extended the ladder to the boat length, support it using at the bow pulpit, supported in the middle with a Styrofoam block found on the beach and rest it on the stern rail. I pad the sharp edges of the ladder to protect the tarps. I use the tarps from previous years under the newer tarps this protect the new tarps from wear and gives a extra layer of protection.I store the mast separate out of sight, there has been thefts of mast because of the aluminum scrap value. The main goals I have are: to keep leaves out of the cockpit drains, water from pooling on deck or in the cockpit, keep the boat clean, prevent mold and protect the new port light plastic windows from the sun. This worked well in MA and should now work in NC.
