subject:Sagging Mast ....
I had the exact same problem many years ago. As soon as I recognized the sag I went out and knocked the ice & snow off. Since then, when I cover up my boat in the winter I put a center support on the mast when laid horizontally. It is positioned around where the mast base is.I also take my spreaders off and have added some framework every 4-5 feet the whole length of the mast. Ther were no ill affects of the bend. It went right back to straight. I guess as long as it doesn't kink it's OK.
