REMOVING SPREADERS

There are two kinds of spreader fastenings. The original spreaders were drilled with cotter pins through the spreader and support pins Removing the cotter pins will allow the spreaders to be removed. The later boats have short machine screws though the spreaders and tapped into the aluminum sleeves under them. Removing the screws will allow th spreaders to be removed. You may have to remove th upper shrouds to get the spreaders off. Some WD40 may be needed to remove corosion, but this should be minimaal on freshwater boats. I hope this helps. Gene
