You are correct Bob the accessory switch is not part of the light system. I beleive in most boats it is a discretionary circut, that can power a sound system, depth sounder or whatever you are decide to use it for. On my boat I have replaced all the switches and wires except where the wires were molded in fiberglass. Radioshack is a good place to get switches. I also use the encapsulated wire tracks used for home teather systems, that is sold in hardware stores like Lowes, Home Depot.
