subject:jib cunningham
While it's certainly true the class rules forbid jib cunninghams, and therefore that Mike, class measurer, was clearly right to uphold the previous ruling, I would suggest we rescind it.A cunningham is so easy and so inexpensive to rig, it wouldn't make any difference to anyone financially. Nor can it be construed in any way as a feature of a "development class."
When the winds pick up, tightening a halyard can be difficult. And the winch is often being used already for some other purpose...like sheeting a jib! How much easier would it be to tug a bit on a cunningham?
Anyone else agree with me?
