I agree with passion expressed on this site that we as SJ21 sailors and owners must support our class if we wish to enjoy the benefits of a vibrant sailing community.I believe that the best way to encourage that support is to show existing and potential members all the great things that their $25 dose to support & grow the class. Can we post a financial report from the National Association showing where the annual dues are spent, and what the annual membership is?
Letting people know how much of their funds support: Jibsheet printings, Harbor servers, Class Manual Printing, Class Trophies, etc. will get the member base engaged. It might also allow members to make suggestions which can spread our $25 even further in our goals of supporting and growing the class.
For example: I love Cal Guthrie’s suggestion to move the Jib sheet to an on-line publication (In the Members Only section of the site). We have moved our Fleet #1 publication the Keelpin to an online only version as well. I suspect that a JS costs something like $2/issue so that is $12 of our $25 right there.
