subject:
Fair price for a SJ 21?

Hi all,

I'd like your opinions.

There's an early 80's (so the seller says) SJ 21 for sale in Hawaii. Comes with the trailer and a used 2-stroke 6hp kicker; plus a radio and GPS (not new or high end components). Good condition throughout, but nothing really exceptional as used 21's go.

Seller was asking $6K but got no offers, so the price was lowered to $5.5K

From what I see in national sale ads, prices go as low as $1.5K, and very nice similarly equipped boats seem plentiful at no more than $3.5K.

Not to mention the economy is down and most people don't have a lot of money to spend on boats.

So, what do you folks think?

Based on the information provided above, would you think $5.5K is a fair price for a SJ 21? Or do you think that's too high?

If you were going to make an offer on a boat described as above, what would you think a fair offer would be?

Thanks,

Clint
