subject:SJ21 Pricing
$5.5k / $6k seems a bit high compared to the prices I've seen on this site over the years .. but bear in mind that for something like this, something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. So while $3k might net you a really sweet setup off this site, the caveat is you have to go and get it. If you are in Hawaii ... that trailer is going to be mighty fun to haul behind you as you sail the boat back to the Islands. :-)In my area (Calgary AB) there's a very active fleet of SJ21's and anytime a local boat comes up for sale it's usually $7k, $8k and in some bizarre examples I've seen $10k and up!!!! Usually they justify it with race-readiness and new sails (sails are usually not cheap and if they are new, that might explain the higher asking price). So it doesn't surprise me too much that in a place like Hawaii where everything has to be shipped in that costs will be higher. But again, something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay .. so especially given that it hasn't moved in a while, it's probably worth putting in an offer and seeing if there's some kind of mutually acceptable middle ground on that price.
Good luck!
