subject:6hp vs. 8hp
I'm using a 5hp two stroke on my SJ and it seems to be more than plenty of power. In my experience I can push the boat at 5kts at about half throttle and 5.5 kts wide open. Any extra power on top of that probably isn't going to do much for you as you are pretty much up against the hullspeed limit. Of course you could maybe break it up onto a plane with the 8hp and use it to go waterskiing, which would be kind of cool. But seriously, anything over 6 is probably overkill and more of a pain than its worth.
