I'll stick with my Seagulls. When going to a lake or a slackwater pool on the Columbia or Snake River, we use a little MkII 40-plus, if we're heading to the saltwater where tide and associated currents are going to be possible factors, I pull out the Silver Century with it's five-blade eleven-inch prop. Simple, effective, and a breeze to troubleshoot or fix when required. Plus, the smoke kills 'skeeters (10:1 gas/oil ratio), and the slight oil-sheen trail works better than a trail of breadcrumbs...

They also make a rather distinctive sound when fired... When I've set-up early in an anchorage in a proper and safe manner and between midnight and 3 AM half a dozen partying Bayliners roll in, drop a single hook with zip for scope on the line, and fire up their gen-sets, I find it rather satisfying to weave my way out of the now-crowded anchorage with the pleasing staccato of my 'gull announcing to all that it is 6 AM and they're burning daylight.
