Mitch's hull buckling

Mitch,

I had some of this on my MKI 897. Taking it off the trailer and putting it up on Stephen Jensens lift for 2 months seemed to cure the buckling. It just naturally popped back out. I'm not sure that's an option for you, but it would get it to the point where you could fix the QB and get it glued back on. In my case the QB's were fine so I didn't have to deal with that.

The way I fixed it on my trailer was by adding 2 more bunks in the middle. I picked up some shorter galvanized bunk mounts off ebay, as they were a lot cheaper than going to the local shop. So my hull now sits on close to 20 feet of bunk, as opposed to the ten it was on before. I have an old Fleet Cptn trailer. This seems to have cured the problem as I could see some of the buckling before, and now I don't.

Andy Caple's 759 had some buckling as well. His boat was up on the same lift for about a month and that was enough time for the hull dimpling to go away. I don't think he had any issues with the QB's either.

His trailer had 10 foot bunks to begin with, but there was a bumper in the middle of them, and his hull wasn't completely sitting down on all 10 feet of bunk either. I think he just cut that bumper out so the entire bunk could flex, and IIRC his boat now sits completely down on both sides.

Just a couple ideas for ya...

Later
C
