Welcome to a website for Sigma Chi's and friends who were at Butler University during the 1950's! I'm not sure exactly what prompted me to create this site, but it was partly the result of having attended numerous get-togethers at Rick's Boatyard Cafe at Christmas time over the years, as well as other luncheons before certain Butler games, etc. Initially, years ago, we were getting together at the Columbia Club for the annual state-wide Sigma Chi Christmas party, but I think some felt it was getting a bit pricey and perhaps wasn't all that much fun. The luncheon every year at Rick's has been well received though.Dick Richmond is the person responsible for setting up these luncheons at Rick's, and keeping in touch with everyone; if it hadn't been for him, I'm not sure very many guys would have continued to meet over the years. In other words, he's the one who has kept it all together over the years. I'd also like to thank Charlie Lehr who came up with some pictures of the annual Xmas luncheon (2002).
I thought a website might facilitate keeping this 'getting together' thing going, and perhaps be a vehicle for interesting others who haven't been able to attend events in the past. When I recently sent an email to several guys about the championship Horizon League game between Butler and Wisconsin-Milwaukee, I received short notes from Hoagie Elliot, Dave Gentry, Dick Richmond, Gene Harvey, Dotty Reehling (in AZ), and a few others. Soon several of us are getting together when Dave Franklin makes his semi-annual trek through Indy.
Here's hoping you'll enjoy this online 'get-together' facility! (It's still a 'work in progress'. Feel free to email me with any suggestions you might have.)
In Hoc,
Jim
